Because 21 years provides a big learning curve.

On January 13, your girl is turning 21. Finally. It’s been a long time coming, and I finally feel like I am an adult now. Which is weird, because you normally turn into an “adult” when you turn 18. But there’s something about turning 21 that provides a feeling of adulthood. Maybe it’s the margaritas, who knows.

Due to the occasion, I decided to reflect on the 21 things I’ve learned in the last 21 years. I’ve got a lot more life to live, but there’s still a lot of wisdom I’ve been blessed with in these last two decades.

1. Shower thoughts are the best thoughts.

2. The best time to start is right now.

3. Not everyone will like you.

4. When something horrible happens, first go to Jesus, then go to online shopping.

7. Nothing is ever as bad as it seems.

8. Your gut feeling never lies.

9. Change is the only constant in life.

10. Perfection keeps you from true connection.
