Sometimes we need a lil pick me up.
Chasing goals can get discouraging. Recently, I’ve been in the midst of a lot of striving, and feel like I am getting depleted. In these moments of exhaustion, it’s easy to get down on ourselves. I want to fight these feelings with truth, with encouraging verses.
Day in and day out I am reminded that I have no idea what this next season will hold, no matter how hard I work. I am reminded that I cannot control what opportunities come. Additionally, on top of all of this, I am reminded that the Enemy prowls on those who are doing God’s will the most.
I don’t like having this negative attitude. I am normally a pretty positive person, but life has taken a toll on me. There comes a time when we need to stop working, and we need to start reminding ourselves of truth.
If any of you know this feeling, you might also know that in these times, we may begin to lose our faith. We lose hope. I am here to tell you that this is the time when you have to cling on to hope the most.
Therefore, here are five Bible verses to help you persevere, and not give up.
1. “The Lord goes before you and will be with you; He will never will leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6)
Even when we feel like we are alone in our work, God is with us. He has a plan for us and He is worth every ounce of our trust. Whether we fail or succeed, He will be by our side.
2. “‘For I know the plans I have for you’, declares the Lord. ‘Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future.'” (Jeremiah 29:11)
I am guilty of thinking “Oh my gosh. I am not going to do anything with my life.” But I have to constantly remind myself that God is in control of my life and all I need to do is be still and trust in His ways.
3. “Cast all your anxieties on Him, because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7)
I will admit it. Sometimes it seems like God is distant. He seems especially distant when times are the confusing, when we aren’t sure what path He has us on. But when we believe that we are not sure in Him, that’s when we are believing a lie. In fact, you have to fight it. God is with you and He doesn’t want you to carry your worries. Instead, He wants you to give all your fears to Him and leave them with Him.
4. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, for those who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
Even if you don’t have everything worked out, God has it all planned out for you in His timing. Even if your life seems like it is crashing down right now, there is a greater purpose for this struggle He is putting you through. He cares for you too much to not give you good things in this life. After all, He has better things planned for our lives than we ever could plan for ourselves.
5. “But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me.” (2 Timothy 4:17)
When you feel weak, know that God will protect you. He will build you up and give you the strength to keep on going.
Life doesn’t make sense all of the time. The truth is – God doesn’t always give us what we want, but he will always give us what we need. Sometimes life goes just how we want it to, and other times it seems like nothing at all is going right. If times are tough right now for you, remember that there will be goodness that comes out of the struggle.
Even if you can’t see it now, you will look back on this struggle and eventually see why it had to happen. That you were on the right path all along.
