It’s time to embrace some sweatpants.
In high school, I never wore sweatpants. I felt this inclination to dress up every day, and I always got excited about picking out what I was going to wear. But then, college hit, and I couldn’t dress up like I used to, nor did I want to. Why would I wear an uncomfortable skirt on my 15-minute walk to class, when I could do that in some loungewear?
Now that I’m in an off-campus house, I will get home and immediately want to get in cozier clothes. College is hard enough, and sometimes all you need is to get into a comfier outfit and give yourself some love. I’m not saying to be a bum, but after a full day of classes or exams, it’s nice to get comfortable.
So recently, I have embraced the loungewear lifestyle. Even though I do love dressing cute to class, it is special knowing I have a pair of sweatpants just waiting for me when I get home. Without further ado, check out the items below for some loungewear essentials for college students.
1. Joggers
These are a must. I am going to be flat out with you, I didn’t bring a pair of sweatpants to college this year. Isn’t that crazy? I decided after looking at my housemates all cozied up in joggers, that I needed to get myself a pair. This pair just went on sale at Nordstrom’s, and it’s like I’m walking in a blanket.
2. Slippers
These are perfect for going down to your living room/ kitchen to chat with your housemates, or even running some errands. There are such fun slippers to buy, between really fuzzy pink ones, or some subtle moccasins. I just got this pair from JCrew factory for only $30, but there are also some great ones at Abercrombie and Fitch that have got some mad fur action.
3. Fleece Pullover
These are so comfy cozy, I cannot get enough of them. If I could, I would wear one every single day. These are everywhere, and I’m pretty sure all brands are making their own versions of them. You can invest in a True Grit one, but if that’s on the pricey side for you (which it is for most), I would recommend buying this one from Nordstrom. It got marked down recently from $80 to $50, and it is so comfy.
4. Thermal
These are getting very in right now. I have worn mine from Free People way too often, it is so soft and goes with a lot. I could definitely wear it to bed, but I’ve chosen not to.
5. Leggings
Leggings are also great companions for lounging around. I got this Zella pair, and they look and feel like Lulu leggings, but are significantly less pricey.
I hope by now you feel ready to lounge to your heart’s content. Don’t let trying to feel cute get in the way of taking care of yourself. A day in joggers is not going to kill you (I needed to hear this myself). It might be exactly what you need, and your heart will be so warm because of it.
