Even though it will keep you both up until unreasonable hours, it is oh-so worth it.
As the school year is starting, there’s more time to spend with your roommie. No matter if you and your roommate just met each other, or if you have been besties for years, it can not be denied that serious bonding can happen once you start watching a Netflix show together.
To enjoy some quality time with your roommate, check out the top five best TV shows to watch with your roommate.
1. Parenthood
I have to include this one because my roomie and I watched this freshman year. I used to look forward to this show every day, when we would hear Bob Dylan’s “Forever Young” theme song and spend time with virtual family members. This show incorporates so many different kinds of characters that you can learn so much from. I highly recommend it, and trust me, you will cry. This show is moving.
2. Vampire Diaries
Do you want a show full of drama? Then this is for you. So many love triangles, so many vampires, a recipe for a wonderful show. You and your roommate will have to decide which side you’re on, Team Damon or Team Stefan. This requires some serious decision-making.
3. Gilmore Girls
This witty show will keep you and your roommate laughing non-stop. This show follows Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, mother and daughter, in small-town Connecticut. Both characters will introduce you to realistic twists and turns of life, so you will inevitably learn from this show. In addition, you’ll feel like these characters are your actual friends within the first episode.
4. Friday Night Lights
First of all, everybody needs a little bit of Tami Taylor in their lives. Period. Your roommate and you can laugh and cry to each of these episodes in Dillon, Texas. And don’t just think this show is only about football, it’s actually about a whole lot more than that. This dramatic show is about growing up, facing adversity, and being a friend to one another. This will always be my favorite TV show (and I don’t even watch football).
5. Scream (MTV Series)
You might be questioning this and think, isn’t this a famous 90’s movie? And though it is, MTV has now enveloped this story into an incredible, modernized TV show. Once you have started this, don’t be too surprised if you finish it in one sitting. It is addicting. Yes, it’s incredibly cheesy, but that doesn’t change the fact that it is so good, and will keep you on your toes.
(If Five Episodes Wasn’t Enough For You and you have Hulu…) The OC
So if you looked at all of these and you shook your head, or you are one of the lucky one’s on this planet who have Hulu, then you really need to watch the OC. It is a blessing from above. Something about it just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy. The OC follows four teenagers navigating high school in Orange County, California. And just a little disclaimer, it is very early 2000’s. Like I’m talking all the white lipstick and Hollister tanks. All in all, you would have to be crazy to not fall in love with this show.
I hope after this list you and your roommate have a better idea of what fantastic show you can watch together. You might stay up way too late to watch just “one more episode,” and you’ll love every second of it.
