You will be missed.
Dear Clothes,
As I get ready to go back to school, I realize it is time for us to meet again.
To the shirts that killed it in seventh grade, it’s time for me to say goodbye. Those super tight long sleeve Hollister shirts just aren’t working for my body type anymore. I almost couldn’t even really breathe in you when I got you in the first place, and it’s only gotten worse. Going back to school has brought us to our end.
And don’t even get me started on the purple sweatpants…
And you, you sweet pair of purple sweatpants (that I remember always pairing with a nice purple hoodie to complete the jumpsuit look), I can’t believe this day has come. The second I tried you on in the PINK store, I knew we would be close. But it’s time to say goodbye. You helped me kill it in the 7th grade hallways, and for that, I am forever grateful.
And to you blue and white shorts in size 0 that ride up my butt, you were there for me for every middle school party. I even remember wearing you to the fair in 7th grade. As my mom looks at me like I am crazy for even thinking for a second I can keep you, I turn my head away and I know she is right. I can’t wear you anymore.
Jeans, we go way, way back. It’s crazy how much we have been through. However, as I squeeze each leg into you, look in the mirror, and see that you look spray painted on; I realize this is the end.
Of course, Forever 21 binges are all flooding back
And how could I forget that splurge at Forever 21 in 8th grade? I swear, that might have been the best day of my life. The hip, slouchy top look just doesn’t work anymore, however. Sadly, I think it never did on me. But you can’t blame me for going psycho and blacking out in the beloved Forever 21. It’s normal.
To the shirts that I loved to look at in my closet but never actually wore: boy, am I going to miss you. Of course I wanted to pack you in my little suitcase. But, if I haven’t worn you in five years, chances are I won’t in college.
But I will definitely keep that jean jacket/sweatshirt thing that is 100% out of style but could be serious vintage material in the next ten years.
It’s been a long road. We have been through it all: canteens, basketball games, and the unforgettable first day of sixth grade. But now, I am on to college, and adulthood awaits. I will meet different clothes now, but I’ll never forget you.
Thanks for the memories.
xoxo,
The College Girl
