If you’re like me, you might as well be obsessed with the new trend: platform wedges. When I first saw the Marc Fisher wedges on Pinterest, I was oohing and aweing. But also, I thought that there was no way I could actually wear these puppies. I am almost 5’9, so the almost four inch heel scared me away. I also figured I didn’t have enough outfits to pair with these babies, or enough occasions to pull them out for. But boy was I wrong.
After a few more weeks oogling over these shoes at Nordstrom’s, and a ruthless week at work, I decided to splurge. I went right into Nordstrom and bought these Marc Fisher’s. And ladies, I am so happy I took this leap of faith.
Granted, as I was walking into Starbucks to grab my online pickup order, my first step into the coffeeshop I almost rolled my ankle and fell flat on my face. I’m pretty sure a lot of these people saw me stumble. But two things matter in this instance: 1. I stuck the landing and 2. Everyone was probably looking at my shoes and not my flushed, embarrassed face.
I didn’t care because I was thinking Man. How do I still love a pair of shoes after they almost humiliate me in public? This is true shoe love, people.
So you might have trouble walking in them at first. They are incredibly comfortable, but one definitely needs to adjust from being normally zero inches off the floor to suddenly four.
I am not normally one to follow trends. But ladies, I am so happy I decided to fall into this one, and I’m inspired to encourage others to do the same. Even though these are four inches, you’d be surprised at how often you will wear them. Whether it’s in Starbucks on a laid back day, or in a formal setting, the possibilities are endless (Okay. Maybe not so endless to the point you could wear them to the gym or an active frenzy).
You might be thinking- Ashley, I don’t believe you. There’s no way platform wedges are versatile. And I know you’d think that, because I thought the same. So to help you have more faith in these shoes, my best friend Kelsey and I got together and she modeled several ways you can put this look together, for just about every occasion.
So without further ado, here are five different ways to wear your favorite pair of platform wedges.

1. For A Casual Occasion
On a nice, laid back day, your platform wedges can certainly join you. By pairing them with a white top and ripped jeans, you’re bringing down the fanciness and making it perfect for a cute, effortless look. I also love how in this white shirt, there are little subtle pom-poms. What’s not to like?!

2. With A Feminine Touch
If you’re the girly girl type, pairing your wedges with a floral dress and a jean jacket is quite the no brainer. This look would be perfect for a summer picnic, ice cream date, or grad party hopping.
3. For The Formal Function
If you’re headed to somewhere where the dress code is formal, these wedges paired with a flowy dress are the perfect combo. A wedding would be a great occasion to wear this outfit to, along with an anniversary.
4. For A Beach Day
The beach is always a good idea, am I right? And while you’re packing, instead of just throwing a bunch of flip flops in your suitcase, make sure to throw a pair of espadrille wedges to accompany you in the sunshine. I promise you won’t regret it, and you’ll probably wear them a whole lot more than you thought. And a beach trip isn’t quite fulfilled without a pinstripe dress like this one.

5. With An Edge
Isn’t my best friend the cutest? Just as you can wear these wedges for formal and casual occasions, you can also wear them if you’re style is on the edgy side. A pair of overalls just screams cool-factor to me (which would explain why I don’t have one yet, because I wouldn’t ever clarify myself as “cool”). This overall paired with the striped top is a great way to add an alternative twist to these wedges.

I hope these examples gave you some inspo, and you won’t feel quite as guilty when you decide to splurge. It’s obvious there are plenty of different ways to make the most out of this trend, and I hope I’ve given you a little insight on how to do so.
And even if we are close to rolling our ankles in public, let’s pick ourselves and stand proud in the fact that these shoes are making a serious statement. Embrace the trend, sisters!

I’ve always wanted a pair of shoes like this. I’m the same height and had the same fear but I’m used to wearing high shoes but I hate feeling taller than everyone else.
